Types of Concrete Mixers
Self-falling Concrete Mixer
The self-falling concrete mixer places the mixture in a rotating mixing drum. As the mixing drum rotates, the blades in the drum lift the mixture to a certain height, and then it falls freely by its own weight. Repeat this over and over again until evenly mixed. This mixer generally mixes plastic and semi-plastic concrete.
Self-falling mixer can be divided into drum-shaped, conical reversing discharge, conical tipping discharge and other types according to the structure of the mixing drum. It consists of a mixing drum, a hydraulic feeding mechanism, a mixing drum friction wheel drive system, a water pump-time relay water distribution system and a single-axis towed chassis.
The self-falling type has the characteristics of simple structure, low energy consumption, little wear, long life, and simple use and maintenance. However, the rotating speed of the drum is limited by the critical speed, and the production efficiency is low. It is only suitable for mixing plastic concrete with general aggregates.
Compulsory Concrete Mixer
For a compulsory concrete mixer, the mixing drum doesn’t move, but the mixing is forced by blades evenly placed on the rotating shaft inside the drum. This kind of mixer has good mixing quality and high production efficiency, but it consumes a lot of power and the blades wear out quickly. It is particularly suitable for mixing dry hard concrete and lightweight aggregate concrete.

Mobile concrete mixer

Tilting type mixer

Periodic Concrete Mixer
The three processes of feeding, mixing and unloading in the cyclic operation type are carried out periodically at certain time intervals, that is, mixing by portion. Since the various materials being mixed are accurately weighed, the mixing quality is good. Currently this type of operation is mostly used.
Continuous concrete mixer
The three processes of continuous operation of feeding, mixing and unloading are carried out continuously in a longer cylinder. Although its productivity is higher than that of the cyclic operation method, the mixing ratio of each material and the mixing time are difficult to control, so the mixing quality is poor.
The periodic type can accurately control the proportion of concrete and ensure the mixing quality. Continuous type have higher productivity.
Twin Shaft Concrete Mixer
The twin-shaft mixer includes first and second mixing shafts parallel to each other, mixing blades and a horizontal mixing barrel. The stirring blades extend from the first and second stirring shafts to all sides, and are arranged equidistantly in the axial direction and differ from each other by a fixed angle clockwise or counterclockwise in the circumferential direction, so that the stirring blades on the first and second stirring shafts are arranged in a spiral shape with opposite directions of rotation. The first and second stirring shafts rotate synchronously with each other and their blades are staggered through a plane defined by the axes of the first and second stirring shafts. There is a feed port at the top of one end of the mixing barrel, and a discharge port at the bottom of the other end. With this structure, the mixing blades of the mixer discharge the dry mortar from the inlet port to the outlet port while stirring the dry mortar, thereby achieving continuous production and effectively improving production efficiency.
Choose the suitable model of concrete mixers

- Production capacity. The production capacity of a concrete mixer refers to the amount of concrete that can be produced per hour, generally between 10m³/h and 90m³/h. Customers can choose the corresponding production capacity according to project needs.
- Mixing drum volume. The volume of the mixing drum refers to the maximum amount of concrete that the concrete mixer can accommodate when mixing. It is generally between 0.25m³ and 2m³.
